Report of STAC

A workshop on Python was organized at our college by the IEEE Students Branch of the college on 18th September 2010 as a part of STAC. The workshop was first of it’s kind in our college which had participation of students from other colleges.

The events started with an ice breaking session anchored by Ancy Susan Mathwes(CS 08).

Later the inauguration ceremony was conducted. Hari sir gave a small introduction about the importance of open source software in his speech.  Ravi sir and Reji sir spoke about IEEE . The lamp was lighted by Hari sir, Reji sir, Ravi sir and Deepa mis. IEEE chair Sarath Mohan gave the vote of thanks.

Hari sir took the seminar on Pyhton from about 10:30 AM till noon. After that there was a cool off session anchored by Ancy. The students had a great time with lot of games till 1.30PM.

After the food, students had the practical session on python in the computer lab.

STAC Conference about Python

Python logoSTAC is a joint technical initiative of 7 IEEE student branches of Kerala including College of Engineering,Karunagappally. Seven student branches will organize workshops and conferences on 7 topics.

College of Engineering, Karunagappally will conduct a workshop on the open source programming language – “Python”.  Workshop will be on 18th September at College of Engineering, Karunagappally from 9.30 AM to 4PM.

Literati 10 Report

The IEEE HUB 1 Congress 2010-Literati was held at TKM Institute of  Technology, Karuvelil, Kollam on the 24th of July 2010 as a joint venture of the IEEE Student Branches of TKM Institute of Technology & College of Engineering,Karunagapally.

It aimed to bring all the SB volunteers under one roof  for better networking and discussions of happening in their own college. The event started with the inaugural session at 10 am. The session was presided over by Dr. K. K. Abdul Rasheed (Principal, TKMIT).The welcome speech was given by Sarath Mohan (Chairman, CEK) followed by the inauguration of Literati – HUB 1 Congress by our Chief  Guest Prof. Mohammed Kasim(LINK Vice President) by lighting the lamp. He spoke about the peripherals of IEEE and its benefits. Later on Dr. Suresh Babu(Principal, TKMCE) and Mr. Namith Najeeb (SAB Secretary) felicitated the meet. The vote of thanks was given away by Robin Thankachan Plavila (Chairman, TKMIT).
Next Session was HUB 1 report and future activities(HUB Focus) handled by Sanju Mathew(HUB 1 Driver) with inputs from Jerry Althaf.Before lunch, formation of an awareness team for HUB 1 was done by Namith Najeeb (SAB Secretary) in the absence of the LINK team.The afternoon session began with the SB Administrative workshop, which was again handled by Namtih Najeeb.Paper presentation Contest was held with 5 pre-entries parallel to the workshop headed by volunteers from CEK. Sreevas (CET) won the first place followed by Dennis Babu(TKMCE) and Sai manoj & Ramesh N. Nair (Amrita Vidya Vishapeetham) securing second and third places respectively.

IEEE Hub 1 Congress (Literati 10) @ TKMIT

The Hub 1 congress – Literati 10 will be conducted at TKM Institute of Technology, Karuvelil, Kollam on 17th July 2010. The program is conducted as a joint venture of IEEE TKMIT & IEEE College of Engg., Karunagappally. All Student Branch officers of the Hub 1 and other members are requested to participate in the event. The Event includes technical sessions including a paper presentation contest and also a session on Embedded Systems.

Registration fee is Rs.100 for IEEE members and Rs.50 for SB Chairman & SB Secretary. Registration Fee for Non-IEEE Members is Rs.200. A maximum of 10 members can participate in the event from one student branch including IEEE members and Non-IEEE Members.All the student branch members and branch officers are welcome.
