An ifthar party was organized at the College of Engineering,Karunagappally on 17-09-2009. This function was under the auspicious presence of head maulavi of the Karunagappally Juma at who inaugurated it.He impressed everyone with his quotes and teachings from qur-aan on behalf of ramzan and the purity of this month. He also imparted the meaning of taking fast  before sunrise  and its breaking after sunset. Along with him , Shaji sir , Pramoj sir , Anil Kumar sir, the superintendent also conveyed their felicitations. It was organized by the S7 batch of the college.Many students, both girls and boys attended the meeting.The fast was broken at 6:29 pm and later refreshments were served.

Onam celebrations at College of Engineering,Karunagappally was held on 21st August 2009 at the college campus.The whole event was organized by S5.Various competitions were conducted for students as well as staffs.First item was the Pookalam competition.It started at 8:30 and continued till 10:30.The results of the pookalam competition was not announced officially, due to some clashes between S5-S7.But we got the following results from some reliable sources.

• 1st:S7 EC
• 2nd:S5 CS-IT
• 3rd:S3 CS-IT

After that, the official inauguration of the events were done by the Principal.Later the lucky draw for staffs were conducted and gifts were given.The next item was the Malayali Manka Competiotion.Th contestants were interviewed by a panel of judges.Different questions about Kerala and Kerala’s culture were asked.Most of the contestants recited Malayalam poems.Results of the competition are as follows:

• Malayali Manka:Ananthalekshmi(S3 CS)
• 1st runner up:???(S5)
• 2nd runner up:Navami:(S3 EC)

After the Malayali Manka competition Kaserakali was conducted.And the winner was Vishnu(S3 CS).Later Uriyadi competition was held.Again the winner was from S3,Maheen(S3 IT).

S5 distributed payasam to all the students during ‘lunch time’.Then the vadam vali competition was held.The winners were S7.
